We are honored to announce that the American Society of Interior Designers, Florida South Chapter has awarded Space as Art a 2015 “Design Excellence Award” at the organization’s annual awards gala held last weekend in Naples, Florida.

The project awarded this distinction was the 5,231 square foot, “Las Tortugas” model unit at Redington Grand, a boutique luxury condominium for which Space as Art designed four model units, all of which have been successfully sold as turnkey residences by the developer and were instrumental in selling out the rest of the building. The “Las Tortugas” model was designed with the tropical contemporary feel of a five-star, island resort, incorporating resort spa-style features to offer buyers a luxury vacation experience at home.

From an empty shell the Space as Art design team crafted this vision for the 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath residence by designing all new, spa-inspired bathrooms and chef’s kitchen featuring custom cabinetry, selecting luxurious specialty finishes, lighting, and fixtures throughout, and developing an inviting and cohesive furnishings package to complement the entire concept. Natural materials like wood, stone, and glass were used in a “warm contemporary” palette inspired by the beachfront location. The developer’s existing floor plan was largely maintained, with strategic design updates and additional features, and views of the Gulf of Mexico and Intracoastal Waterway were maximized to the fullest. The unit was completed and listed for sale at $1.75 million last year.

“While most of our residential work is for private clients,” says Angela Rodriguez, Principal Interior Designer, “we also enjoy the opportunity to work with builders and developers on special properties like this, where we can partner together to create something truly special for a buyer to step into, personally connect with, and just say, ‘this is my dream home.’ We’ve thought out every detail already to provide not just a design, but an experience, a lifestyle just ready and waiting to be lived. There’s something really magical about the end result, and we truly enjoy it.”
