Pablo and I had an incredible time this week at the HD Americas 2014 hospitality design conference and expo at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The highlight for us was definitely the conference lineup. Hospitality Design magazine assembled a truly fantastic group of speakers and panelists to discuss various topics centered around the hotel, resort, and restaurant design markets in the US and Latin America. The “Owners’ Round Table” event in particular was an exciting opportunity for us to sit down with top hospitality developers and hotel brand executives and learn more about their goals, challenges, predictions for the future, and how best we as designers can meet their evolving needs. 

As an interior designer it is always important (and fun!) to stay on the leading edge of product offerings for our clients. We also enjoyed meeting new vendors and discovering new introductions in furniture, finishes, lighting, and more.

It wasn’t all work though. Hospitality Design magazine hosted an opening night launch party poolside at the Delano Hotel. There was a fun crowd, including this enormous party-crashing iguana. Afterwards we strolled around South Beach and enjoyed some very creative, modern Cuban cuisine. Now we head back to the studio to get back to our projects and to put all we learned into action.
