We’re in the final stages of the interior design for this technology industry office in Tampa, FL. The geographical location has heavily influenced the design concept of the space with a focus on Tampa’s history of seafaring (influences of ships can be seen in the white sail elements and wood plank features). French fabric manufacturer Pierre Frey recently released a collection that we’ve fallen in love with here at Space as Art. Appropriately named Collection Origines, the abundance of pattern, color and texture ignites an excitement within and spurs thoughts of exploring far-away cultures.
Fresh out of the frame and onto the furniture, this trend in interior design textiles makes a bold, artsy statement. I love these fabrics as custom pillows to loosen and enliven a structured, well tailored chair. While searching for a nice “grassy” modular carpet tile for our own studio workstations we discovered that we’re not the only ones in search of bringing nature’s blanket into our indoor space (without the fire ants, yay!). Green, grass-like carpet tiles are currently a strong trend and a great way to instantly bring some life and cheer into a room while still being an affordable and easily removable design feature. As is common in the design and fashion industries, trends come and go. Certain trends are fun and desirable for a short period of time but tire quickly. Our goal at Space as Art is to seek out the trends that have timeless qualities with a fresh feeling to inspire our projects to be spaces that are beautiful and comfortable beyond the lifetime of typical trends.

Last week our design team took a little road trip to Dania Beach for project sourcing and Winter Market 2015 at the Design Center of the Americas. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, DCOTA is one of the world’s largest design campuses, offering hundreds of thousands of square feet of furniture, fabric, kitchen, plumbing, and lighting showrooms to the interior design trade.
